Goldfish Bowls: Targets In Hoopla Game In Market Fairground Were Goldfish Bowls With Live Fish

The hoopla game in the town market fairground, used live goldfish in goldfish bowls as targets. It is difficult to imagine what the fish in the goldfish bowls went through, when a plastic basin actually fell to cover them. It is more difficult still to imagine what the fish went through when the plastic basin just hit the goldfish bowl. This fairground attraction was certainly different and there was plenty of evidence that some of the goldfish bowls had been knocked over by the plastic basins.

Picture shows goldfish bowls, each with one goldfish, arranged on a paved area of market, being targets for hoopla.

Live goldfish are often seen in homes, restaurants, and shops in China, sometimes in goldfish bowls as seen in the fairground, but more often in fully equipped aquariums, in which the goldfish have plenty of swimming room, and they are well cared for. The goldfish bowls with live goldfish used in this hoopla game did not seem to prompt any objections by the onlookers.
