Three Arch Gate Tops Retaining Wall With Steps At Pagoda Site Exit.

Getting down from the Dengfeng Pagoda was much easier than climbing the hundreds of steps to get up to it from the City Square. When we got near to the final stages, there was a Three Arch Gate to walk through and then we were on the top of a retaining wall built with stone blocks. This was an opportunity to enjoy the views from the top of the wall, before walking down the flights of steps on either side of the wall, to reach the road level below. It was so easy !

The stone block wall almost looked like the Great Wall Of China, although perhaps the blocks were a different color. The age of this wall was unknown, but the craftsmen who built this retaining wall did so with the same skill and ability of the Great Wall builders, although undoubtedly they had a much less stressful task.
