Meeting Places: Chinese People Living In Ancient City Make Their Own Meeting Places.

The meeting places we saw during our visit to the Ancient City appeared to be anywhere. If there was some kind of shop in the city, the pavement outside would become one of the meeting places. Some of the people would undoubtedly have come to the shop to buy something, but others might have made their way there knowing it was one of the popular meeting places to get the local news! There were meeting places outside houses, where neighbours gathered together, seated on chairs or stools, to chat with each other, and to watch the world pass by! Whenever there was such a group of people at these types of meeting places, nothing pleased them more than if you stopped to say hello.

From the number of meeting places we saw during our brief visit to this ancient Chinese city, it would appear that every day, was a good neighbors day for the people living there. Perhaps one of the attractions at these meeting places was to study the appearance of the different looking western visitors who made their way to the city, to study them!
